● Country, IP and buyer blocking for Shopify

Keep out who you choose. Stop them at checkout.

Mint Blocker shows a block page to visitors from the countries and IP ranges you pick, and adds a checkout rule that Shopify enforces for blocked countries, emails and customers. Straightforward about what each part can and can't do.

Features

Three layers, each doing what it can

Block browsing where it helps, and stop orders where it counts.

Storefront
Block countries and IP ranges

Block the countries you choose, or allow only the ones you sell to. Add single IPs or CIDR ranges, IPv4 and IPv6, plus an always-allowed list for your own connection.

Checkout
A checkout rule Shopify enforces

Stop checkout for blocked shipping or billing countries, email addresses, whole email domains and tagged customers — on every checkout, express checkouts included.

Orders
Order checks for review

New orders placed from a blocked IP range or with a blocked email are tagged mint-blocked. Cancelling them automatically is optional and off by default.

Search
Search engines let through

Googlebot, Bingbot and other search engine crawlers are never shown the block page, and the page HTML is never changed, so your listings stay indexed.

Speed
Light on your storefront

A small inline check (about 2 KB) in your theme, one tiny request per visitor, answers remembered for 2 hours. If our service is slow or down, your store simply shows as normal.

Privacy
No full IP addresses kept

Allowed visitors leave nothing behind. For blocked visits we keep only the network part of the address and a keyed hash, for 30 days, so you can see what's being blocked.

How it works

Set your rules once

No theme code to edit.

Choose what to block

Countries (or allow-only), IP addresses and ranges, email addresses and domains, customer tags. The test tool shows the result for any visitor.

Turn on the app embed

One click opens your theme editor with the embed ready. Blocked visitors then see your block page, or go to another website.

Switch on the checkout rule

Shopify then stops blocked buyers at checkout, and new orders from blocked IPs or emails are tagged for you to review.

Pricing

One flat monthly price

Billed through Shopify. No per-visit or per-order fees. Cancel anytime.

FAQ

Straight answers

Can visitors get around the storefront block?

Yes, a determined visitor can. Storefront blocking runs in the visitor's browser, so turning off JavaScript, using a VPN in another country, or sending a search engine's user agent gets past it — and bots that don't run JavaScript never see it. It's good for keeping casual traffic out. The checkout rule is the part that can't be bypassed: Shopify runs it on its own servers for every checkout and checks the addresses and email the buyer enters.

Does it stop bots or fraud completely?

No app can promise that, and we don't. Mint Blocker blocks what you tell it to — countries, IP ranges, email addresses, domains and customer tags — and tags orders that match so you can review them. It doesn't detect VPNs, proxies or bots on its own.

Why do blocked countries still show up in my Shopify analytics?

The block page is drawn in the browser as the page loads, so the visit can still be recorded, and bots that don't run scripts never see the block page at all. The block page stops a visitor from using your store, not from being counted. To stop orders from those countries, use the checkout rule.

Will it hurt my search rankings?

It's built not to. Search engine crawlers (recognised by the user agent they send) are skipped by default, and the block page is drawn in the browser, so the HTML search engines read is your normal page. A crawler that doesn't identify itself as one could still be shown the block page if it comes from a blocked place.

What happens if your service is down?

Your store shows as normal. Every error, timeout or unexpected answer lets the visitor through (we fail open), and the checkout rule runs inside Shopify, not on our servers.

What happens to orders that match?

They get the tag mint-blocked and are listed in the app. Only if you switch it on does the app also ask Shopify to cancel them — with your choice of refund to the original payment method, restocking, and notifying the customer. Shopify refuses to cancel some orders (for example with a payment still processing); those stay tagged.

Will it leave code in my theme?

No. It uses a theme app extension (an app embed you switch on in the theme editor). Nothing is written into your theme files, and uninstalling removes it.
